Description
Optibelt’s HTD 14M timing belt is made from a chloroprene rubber compound, which offers robustness, flexibility, and resistance against aging, ozone, and moderate heat. Embedded in the belt are glass‑fiber cords (and in some high-performance versions, aramid‑blended cores) to provide high tensile strength while minimizing elongation, ensuring accurate synchronous motion. The tooth surface is covered with a fabric layer to improve wear resistance and reduce friction during engagement with pulleys.
Key Features
The 14 mm pitch of the HTD profile allows for efficient load distribution and high torque capacity, especially suited for large‑pitch, heavy‑duties. Because of its rubber‑cord build, the belt can run smoothly and quietly under load, with good fatigue resistance over many cycles. The operational temperature range is quite broad, allowing for reliable performance in standard industrial environments. In its design, it also meets anti‑static requirements for the 14M profile, making it safer in systems sensitive to electrostatic build-up.
Applications
This timing belt is ideal for larger synchronous drive systems where torque and reliability are prioritized — examples include industrial automation machinery, packaging machines, conveyors, and large positioning systems. When designing a drive with this belt, it’s important to use pulleys with sufficiently large diameter to avoid excessive bending stress on the cords, and to ensure proper belt tension and alignment to avoid skipping or premature wear. The belt should be kept free from aggressive chemicals and excessive oil, and periodic inspection of tension and wear is recommended for long-term reliability.
