Description
The Optibelt HTD 8M timing belt is made of chloroprene rubber, which delivers a good balance of flexibility, durability, and resistance to aging and ozone. Inside, the belt uses fiberglass (glass-fiber) cords to handle tensile loads and minimize elongation. The tooth surfaces are protected by a nylon fabric layer, which reduces friction and wear when the belt engages with pulleys.
Key Features
With its 8 mm pitch and HTD rounded tooth profile, this belt provides efficient synchronous power transmission, supporting moderate to high torque in compact drive systems. Its rubber-fiber construction allows it to run with low noise and good stability. The belt can operate over a wide temperature range (approximately –30 °C to +100 °C according to Optibelt’s spec), making it suitable for many industrial environments. Because of the high-quality materials and design, it has good fatigue resistance and long service life, especially when installed with proper tension and pulley alignment.
Applications
This HTD 8M belt is ideal for automation machinery, packaging equipment, conveyor systems, and other synchronous drives where space, precision, and reliability matter. When applying it, you should use pulleys with the recommended minimum diameter to avoid excessive bending stress on the cords. Correct tensioning is critical: too loose and it may skip, too tight and you risk over-stressing the belt. It’s also important to avoid exposure to harsh chemicals, excessive oil, or extreme temperature spikes. Regular inspection of tension, alignment, and wear will help maximize belt life.
