Description

The HTD 8M timing belt is primarily made from chloroprene rubber, commonly called neoprene, which offers good resistance to heat, cold, and fatigue. Embedded within the rubber is a glass fiber cord that provides high tensile strength and minimal elongation. The tooth surfaces and backing are covered with nylon or similar wear-resistant fabric, which reduces friction, prevents excessive tooth wear, and extends the belt’s service life. This combination of materials makes the belt strong yet flexible, capable of handling significant loads while maintaining durability.

Key Features

The HTD 8M belt features a curvilinear HTD tooth profile that allows higher torque transmission compared with traditional trapezoidal belts. It is capable of replacing chain or gear drives in applications where quiet operation, low maintenance, and long service life are desired. The belt runs smoothly and quietly without lubrication, and the even distribution of stress across the teeth reduces localized wear. Its operational temperature range suits most industrial environments, though extreme heat, chemical exposure, or excessive bending should be avoided.

Applications

This timing belt is well suited for applications requiring precise synchronization, moderate to high torque, and low noise, such as packaging machines, automation equipment, robotics, and auxiliary machinery in machine tools. Proper use involves matching it with appropriately sized pulleys to avoid excessive bending, ensuring correct tooth engagement to prevent skipping, and keeping it free from oil, chemicals, or temperatures outside its recommended range. Regular checks of tension, wear, and tooth engagement help maintain optimal performance and prolong belt life.
